Hello friends, welcome to this weeks blog post.
I need some of those things too, but there's just something about a new handbag. Maybe it's the instant gratification of this lovely yet dependable object, holding what's near and dear to me on any given day.
The perfect handbag is instant gratification and satisfaction. One does not actually need too much to be happy. Sometimes a new handbag for the changing seasons is enough.
I can enter my modest walk in closet with all of it's imperfections and it still makes me smile. Inside, all my favorite pretty and sparkly things await. I admire my handbags and think about which one I might carry later on. I open my vintage jewelry armoire and try on pieces I've collected over the years and it ends up being the perfect way to end my day.
I've discovered the simple joys of being so self-satisfied with the pretty things, my little trips to the basic shops where I live, that I can honestly say I'm gratefully blessed in those moments. No life isn't perfect-not by a long shot...but my 10ct emerald cut moissanite ring set in sterling silver is. It's beautiful, glows on my finger and makes me feel like Elizabeth Taylor. I think perfection is overrated anyway.
Check out this gorgeous Italian handbag that I found during one of my shopping trips to TJ Maxx. Who cares where I found it because it's mine and it's fabulous. Not to mention, TJ Maxx is fun! I now have a new obsession with bamboo handles thanks to this bag and I've even learned a thing or two. I had no idea that the bamboo handle happened during WW2 when leather and other materials were in short supply. As it turns out an Italian designer began using bamboo and fashioning it over heat, creating it's fascinating curved shape and then sealing it with a high polished gloss.
No doubt, this has elevated the handbag into what it was always meant to be-a unique and wearable art form. I'm now on a mission to add bags with bamboo handles to my collection which I am steadily growing. There is really no rhyme or reason to this. A bag comes in, a bag goes out. I do try and diversify my purchases, but sometimes I come across something that really just calls to me for whatever reason. Then all the rules are off, because I trust that feeling.
So, I say, we celebrate those things that bring us happiness. For me, as is obvious, it is the sheer joy and pleasure of a new tote bag for the summer or a rich and substantial satchel for fall and winter.
More later.
